Our True Colors

There are many components that make up our identity. We are each made up of layers, informed by our likes, dislikes, hobbies, cultural background, gender expression, abilities, and more. Self–expression helps us connect with others by encouraging discussion and facilitating new relationships. This exhibition highlights who each Gateway Artist is at their core. Whether it’s an artist’s love of animals and nature, favorite food, or sport, Gateway Arts offers artists the space to express their interests and passions. For this exhibition, the artists were given an added challenge to make their piece monochromatic. The color chosen speaks to who the artist is and the hues within symbolize the layers of their identity. As you look along these gallery walls, the gradient captures what it is to be human – gradual changes, bold characteristics, and subtle details. This exhibition captures a glimpse of who each artist is, what they take pride in, and their true colors.
