Artists’ Celebration: June 13, 2024, 12-1pm

Gateway artists Maria Field, Farah Faustin, Habib Placensia, Sidney Perry and Patrick Shea initially created these large-scale paintings to serve as backdrops for Abilities Dance Boston’s 2022 original ballet, Inversion. Each of the five artists listened to the score from a different movement of the ballet as they planned out their compositions, allowing the music to inform their color choices and mark-making. The resulting paintings, which are the largest of the artists’ respective careers, were more recently displayed at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, during Gateway Art’s 50 Anniversary Celebration.
