Treasures
Treasures, curated by Beth Kantrowitz and Kathleen O’Hara of Drive-by Projects, brings gems from Gateway Arts together with a selection of works by gallery artists.
Treasures….. this exhibition is a collaboration between Gateway and Drive-by Gallery artists. As curators, we see each work of art as a treasure. Whether a painting, a drawing, or a sculpture, each piece is something to appreciate, value, cherish, and hold in high estimation. The merging of the works from Gateway and our gallery enables the viewer to enjoy and relish each and every work of art.

The opening reception for Treasures was held on Wednesday, February 13th, 2019 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. The reception was well attended by both Gateway and Drive-by Projects artists, Brookline community members, Gateway advisory committee members, and members of the greater Boston art community. Vinfen Chief Operating Officer Sophie Jones was present at the reception, and took the opportunity to talk with artists to learn more about their stories. She spoke with Alison Doucette about an embroidered work included in the show.
Gateway Art’s Marketing Specialist Justine Portmann Katz mentioned “We had a great conversation about how Alison’s entrepreneurial spirit is a driving force for her as she focuses on her career aspirations through increasing her sales.” Alison has a very strong understanding of color, and creates visually engaging pieces on many different types of mediums. She has been working at Gateway since 2013.
“Making things makes me happy and when other people like it I feel good about myself,” Alison added.
