Staff Picks
For this group exhibition, Gateway staff members have chosen an unusual array of artworks by Gateway Studio artists. As a result, this exhibition offers viewers a unique opportunity to experience the relationship between artists and the staff who support the development of their work and careers. Some artists are newer to Gateway, while several have worked with the staff who selected their pieces for decades. To highlight this layer to the meaning of the exhibition, the names of the staff members who selected each work have been included in the cards accompanying each piece.
Join us for the Staff Picks Opening Reception on Thursday, May 9th from 5 P.M. – 7 P.M. with live music by Littlefoot, and local refreshments sponsored by Anna’s Taqueria and Samuel Adams Brewing.

The Staff Picks Opening Reception on was held Thursday, May 9th from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. The event was well attended by artists, family members, community members, and Gateway Advisory Committee members. Also in attendance was Massachusetts State House Representative Tommy Vitolo. Vitolo spent quality time talking with several artists about their work in the exhibit, and their experiences at Gateway. Representative Vitolo is currently a member of the Massachusetts Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development.
“I really enjoyed this show” shares Justine Portmann Katz, Gateway’s marketing specialist. “It’s unique in how it presents an intimate point of view, through the lenses of each individual staff member at Gateway. The event had a wonderfully casual and intimate energy, with artists, staff, and community members enjoying art and burritos together on a sunny spring evening.”
Attendees enjoyed live music by Littlefoot, and local refreshments sponsored by Anna’s Taqueria and Samuel Adams Brewing.
